APOLLO 191035000244315 M, 5.5.2024., in the shelter since 6.10.2024. Apollo arrived at the shelter from a Roma settlement, where he had allegedly bitten a child. He came very frightened, baring his teeth and growling at everyone. We soon realized that he had impaired vision and that his fear stemmed from that, when we approached him gently with kind words, he would quickly relax. Later, our Aleksandra took him into her home, where he quickly flourished, developing into a dog that loves cuddles and enjoys guarding. He adores being around people and, due to his cautious nature from poor eyesight, he always reaches out his paw before approaching others. Aleksandra soon noticed that he was drinking excessive amounts of water and urinating frequently. After a series of tests, he was diagnosed with diabetes insipidus. His treatment consists of Minirin tablets, which he takes twice a day to manage his polydipsia and polyuria. Apollo gets along well with other dogs. He doesn’t go on many walks, as they cause him additional stress due to his vision impairment, but he enjoys spending time in the yard and playing outdoors. He reacts poorly to loud noises, getting scared and growling, but he quickly calms down with a gentle voice. Cca 40 cm tall, and weighs 13 kg.
